What your day will look like:

Under general supervision, you will perform a variety of activities including assisting in conducting training and learning activities with preschool children experiencing moderate/severe cognitive disabilities; performing a variety of routine clerical and supportive activities for instructional personnel, and performing other related work as required. This will include:

• As directed by the cooperative teacher, you will work with individual or small groups of preschool students who have moderate/severe cognitive disabilities.  Students may also have physical, behavioral, and/or communication disabilities and/or autistic characteristics.
• You will make effective use of instructional materials and demonstrate effective methods of instruction to ensure that the individual student performance levels, needs, and abilities are addressed.
• Assisting students off the bus in the mornings and onto the bus in the afternoons.
• Assisting with getting student snacks and feeding students. 
• Assisting students in the restroom, changing diapers, and assisting with medical needs.
• Lifting students into and out of wheelchairs.
• Exercising behavior management and maintaining control of students assigned to your care.
• You will go through the Crisis Prevention Intervention training that is provided.
• You will be collaborating with teachers and other para-professionals in the Early Intervention Preschool classroom.
• This position is 35 hours per week.
